Have you ever received this message? I received this warning as I was revising an auction title and description. It said something like, "Based on the shipping method you have chosen, you may be charging too much for shipping. You might lose your right to sell if you are charging too much for shipping."

For this auction I am using Priority Mail and the shipping rate is $9.00 (for a 800 piece puzzle, a t-shirt and a CD- one lot).

eBay has no way of knowing what the weight of the items I am selling are...or the dimensions of the package. My "stars" feedback for shipping is fine so far. I don't get it.

That happened to me once when I was revising an auction through Ebay. I had accidently hit fixed price listing for 99 cents and shipping was 9.00..
When I changed it, the message went away. http://www.buildaforum.com/inkforums/img/smilies/grin.gif

My listing is a BIN. Should I leave it as is? I don't want eBay targeting me for shipping costs in the future. Anybody have suggestions?

The warning is just there to scare you off. No one would do anything unless it's reported, and then it's probably not in violation.

Ebay's problem with it is that they can't charge a final value fee on shipping. If they could...

Their rules are very self-serving.

If they could...

They just get it on the Pay Pal end instead...

Yes--but not double---and that what bothers them--it adds up.

I was listing a shirt but did not want a fixed price listing. 9.00 is reasonable for what you are selling.
My shipping was 9.00 priority too. Maybe that's a magic number with Ebay! If you look at what other sellers are charging for shipping with just 1 shirt, I'm surprised I got the message at all!
I wonder what would happen if we charged 8.99? LOL!

For this auction I am using Priority Mail and the shipping rate is $9.00 (for a 800 piece puzzle, a t-shirt and a CD- one lot).

This is total crap!! Priority flat rate is $8.95 for Pete's sake. Add Delivery COnfirmation like you are supposed to and you're up to $9.60 (unless you use the useless pre-printed labels from PayPal taht do not even SCAN the DC!!). So now what? We will be warned everytime we want Priority Flat Rate??

Which brings up another irritant. There is no choice for Priority Flat Rate on their stupid calculator that they suggest over and over that one use. If I use "Flat rate to all" I get that dumb suggestion that it would help if I used their calculator so folks can know thier shipping. Well I DO - I use the one flate rate to all one esp. for MEDIA MAIL which IS a FLAT RATE and only a FLAT RATE so I wish they would stop BUGGING me about it. Then I put the Flat Rate in for International for the WHOLE WIDE WORLD and they STILL "suggest" that I use the Calculated for foreigners and come to the auction and it is not showing so internationals have to drop down and pick their Country. STUPID!!!

I think there was a notice that they might be adding Flat Rate to the INTERNATIONAL Calculated which is about time.

Notice the "might" and "may" language in your shipping warning. It's a mindless useless "warning" and it is just another irritant that makes listing on eBay so much unexpected "fun".

Ignore it! Better yet, bug live help with feigned dismay everytime it comes up (like one has the time http://www.buildaforum.com/inkforums/img/smilies/biglol.gif ) I love bugging Live Help when eBay takes 4 to 12 hours to show up my listings. Isn't going to get me anywhere most likely (altho it HAS on 2 occasions) but it satisfies a need to stick them one. In a "nice" way.
