I have this lamp I'm listing and am having a major description block. It has an Italian marble column and base and I think it is art deco. The gold separaters between the, what I think is, acrylic and marble are plastic thoughhttp://www.buildaforum.com/inkforums/img/smilies/confused.gif. Any opinions appreciated!!!

I bet that is what it is!http://www.buildaforum.com/inkforums/img/smilies/grin.gif No markings other than on the marble it says Made in Italy and some numbers and the word base, can't distinquish any of the numbers and don't think they are important.

Looks too modern and cheaply made to be deco.

Thanks Fred. That is why I was questioning the plastic. The cord prongs are not polarized though. Do you know how long have they had the polarized plugs?

Look at the seams. In Deco time, those would have been metal and glass, and polished smooth.

See if you can get rid of it at a rummage sale for a couple bucks. http://www.buildaforum.com/inkforums/img/smilies/wink.gif

Mollie,
It's still really a neat looking lamp. Great form. Anything in marble (or alabaster) should still bring a few bids. And there are people out there that can redo/replace any cheap parts to it, and they love good deals just for that purpose.

Thanks for the comments alfalfa! It is a great lamp other than the plastic and I know lamps are very easy to redo. I'm going to list it anyway.
