How do you handle shipping costs in bookkeeping?

I was wondering if anyone included the shipping cost when inserting 'inventory cost' in the listing creator?

ie: If you paid $50 for something and $10 for shipping, would you insert $60 for the 'inventory item cost' or do you handle shipping expenses in another part of your accounting system.

I would greatly appreciate some advice!

I keep shipping costs separate.

I include incoming shipping costs.
Matter of fact, I include all costs related to the acquisition of the item. For me, these are all part of the COGS.

Outgoing shipping is separate, though.

Standard accounting practice includes incoming shipping as part of product cost.
