What would you guys think about a free Yahoo group that all IF members could use to store their research data on? If the text is posted and then offered to other members for free, I don’t think there would be a legal problem.
BF, does this seem legal to you?
Probably using a new, “virgin” yahoo email addy would be the way to go if we started a group though.
Your thoughts?

Not sure what you mean by research data? Sales?
I wouldn't know why not, but I don't care for Yahoo groups myself.

The problem is going to be that our research data (the write up/category info./closing sale amt., etc.) will be unsearchable on eBay very soon.
It would be possible to share closed auction data and other research information with other IF members by copying and pasting into something else, like Yahoo groups.
The reason I suggested Yahoo is because I have run a large group (1300 members) for 3 1/2 years...I know it well...and it's free. Yahoo is buggy though. But, it's FREE. Did I say, it's FREE?
Any other ideas? Or no interest?

What makes you think it will be unsearchable? I know you can't search closed listings from the Playground right now but Ebay Pinks have stated that will be added later on.
Also you can always use Terapeak to do research on closed listings.

It MIGHT remain searchable, but there will be a fee eventually on eBay.
It seems to me that if you publish text (like in a classified ad in the newspaper), and you pay to have it published, you should have the legal right to store the text somewhere else. The same goes for your text/writeup/research in an auction.
Terapeak is very cool. Thanks for that info. Out of the loop. =)
Do you think that because Terapeak is eBay approved, it will eventually charge also?
I was just thinking that it might be worthwhile to have a place where sellers can store there old auction data so that others could search it. Never a fee for anyone, ever.

It would have to be an enormous time consuming operation. How many closed auctions on Ebay in just one week

Why not just do a google search?

Not everything shows up on Google. I know a LOT of the type of things I sell never shows up there.
I've had some Google searches bring up stuff that was years old and on the first page when there was much newer stuff available for what I was searching for.
