And then ebay is offering $50 for referrals. Could there be trouble? Whose the competition.

Yeah, I think there is. If you read a lot of these threads most sellers say they're sells are down by a lot so if that's the case ebay's profits are naturally going to be down as well. I figured they were having probles months ago because they started offering 10 cent listing days almost monthly or some other special. They donly do that when they need to, they don't do it for us. If it were up to them they would never od it but it's the only way they can increase their profits if they get more people to list. I think their fee increases and messing with how things are done, (i.e. the star reatings as well as other things) have discouraged a lot of sellers, especially the smaller ones who can't afford to pay any more than they already were. What can I say another big corporate monster finally getting a little of what it deserves, their big ideas coming back to bite them on their own arses. I think it's funny but at the same time it's not good for me and my sales or any other fellow sellers on ebay. I just hope Google starts doing something like I've been hearing about. If they advertize enough to kick it off and then keep it up long enough they could actually give ebay a run for their money and give sellers the upper hand with ebay and possibly increase their sells. It's a "we'll-just-have-to-wait-and-see" thing http://www.buildaforum.com/inkforums/img/smilies/confused.gif Crossing my fingers and hoping for the best! http://www.buildaforum.com/inkforums/img/smilies/up.gif

Why is it that when ebaY gives you something "free", it still costs you 35¢?

I agree totally but I absolutely hate these promotions because they flood the market.

Just a quick question:

I had a couple auctions to re-list today. All of them started at 9.95 or under with gallery.
I was understood that the listing fee should have been free...but when I checked the fees when I scheduled them to list through IF at about 11am....IF said that the listing fees was the normal price.
Is the "check fees" in IF wrong? or am I being charged normal price or what?
Thank you in advance for your help

Check your seller account on eBay and see if you are getting charged the fees. If it shows up correctly on eBay but not on IF, then it's IF's problem. If it's not showing up correctly on eBay, then you need to contact eBay to run around in circles for a long while and eventually find out why.

Disclaimer: This is id (cjturtle) is not my eBay id. Someone else on eBay already had this id. My eBay id is not even close to this one.

Does this free listing with gallery apply to only new listing's or will it apply also to relist items.

I'm not taking a chance re: relists. I am going to copy and paste quick vs. argue about my bill later. Unless somebody hears otherwise...I thought about that right away...it's a catch like when you try to relist after a promo.

We are charged whatever promo eBay is pushing at the time no matter what the IF "check fees" says.

It does apply to relists. I relisted directly from eBay and got promo prices.

But this promo leaves out big ticket items, correct? Only small items under 9.99? That leaves out the bigger money makers.

I always use gallery anyway.
These promos are to get people to list items. Ebay makes there money off the listing fees.

You get 25% off if you use gallery on $10+ items.

Listings up by 500k in one day, amazing. Is that chum in the water?

Promos used to bring up listings 6 million in a day.

I think maybe chumps in the ebaY.

I'm with you Stone! OMG I just did some searching and eBay is flooded with listings. The price competition is horrendous..worse than on any promotion that I have ever seen...and it goes on for a month!

The discount we get on listing fees is no discount! BUT, I am sure eBay is happyhttp://www.buildaforum.com/inkforums/img/smilies/mad.gif http://www.buildaforum.com/inkforums/img/smilies/mad.gif http://www.buildaforum.com/inkforums/img/smilies/mad.gif

Careful with this! Yesterday I relisted through Ebay and received the promo rate. Today Ebay was NOT automatically giving the promo rate (I tried to relist several items and they were within the guidelines). Accidental or on purpose??? What do you think? How many people are going to notice they were overcharged?

Well, this could help me. I'm listing for the first time in ages - cleaning out the apartment! A lot of my stuff will be cheap in the hopes I can just get rid of it and make a buck or two. So, I guess my timing is pretty good for the first time EVER!

Have you gotten caught up in the new Snapshot yet?

Now I see why Ebay is running a month-long promo with gallery because Snapshot would look pretty sad if all you saw were a bunch of little green cameras.

You can never have too many Jack Russell Terriers.
