How many do you have?
One for selling and one for buying?
I have two for the above reason.

The main reason that I'm asking is because I have a friend that has been just a buyer and now want's to sell but under a different ID.
He tried to create another ID as a seller but because he used the same mailing address eBay wouldn't allow.
Any suggestions or was this just an error?

I have 2 for selling; I buy very little on eBay but I've bought with both of them.
I started the first one and opened a store; the store was for die-cast cars. I had a "motley crew" of personal things to sell (books, clothes, just a hodge-podge) and didn't want them in the car store. So I started a 2nd ID to sell the odds and ends.
Both ID's have the same name and address, just different email addresses. All eBay says is this:
Many members find that they need two accounts. ... You can register two different eBay accounts. However, keep in mind that:
*Both accounts must have different User IDs and different email addresses.
*The two accounts will never be used in the same listing, nor will they be used with each other's Member Profiles.
No mention of needing 2 different mailing addresses--must be a really new policy!
Keep us posted!

Different email addresses have always been required. Mine have the same mailing address.

I have one and the other half has one. Same mailing address. Different email addys though. We use the other half's for buying and mine for selling.
Disclaimer: This is id (cjturtle) is not my eBay id. Someone else on eBay already had this id. My eBay id is not even close to this one.

If you have an existing eBay account with good feedback, I would recommend using that one for your selling account and creating a new one for buying. Good feedback is more valuable for a seller than a buyer.

I have 32 eBay ids and about 12 more that I can’t remember what the password is or what e-mail address they belong to. One of them I have feedback from Pierre from when you could leave feedback for anyone for any reason

I just opened a second one for buying on August 8th. I only used a different mailing address--all of the other information was the same.

WOW! You must be super organized! http://www.buildaforum.com/inkforums/img/smilies/lol.gif
I only have one, don't buy too much anymore but when I do I just use my ID... now my DH has an ID too that he created a few months ago and his would have had the same mailing address just a different email address. But we've not used it cause I have enough to remember without having to remember and keep straight a bunch of different ID's lol.

So you DID have to use a different mailing address? That was the OP question, I think--guess they do have a new rule in place?
all of the other information was the same.
Even the email address??? http://www.buildaforum.com/inkforums/img/smilies/confused.gif

If the feedback is good on the buyer account I'd make that the seller account and try to set up the buyer account with a typo error on the address.
I have four IDs 2 sell, 1 buys the fourth is similar to my selling ID so I took it.
