The new search is a disaster and putting me out of business.
I wondered why sales dwindled to a trickle until I searched my
listings and store items. No matter what type of glove I search
(barbeque,fireplace,nitrile, etc.)I get this page http://buy.ebay.com/gloves
I click at the bottom of the page for MORE and am taken to sporting goods!
Am I missing something here?
If people can't actually read an auction, how are they going to figure this mess out?

I've seen a total of three different presentations of search. The old presentation was never great, these new ones are keyed to gallery. Me thinks the whole thing was dreamt up to increase revenue, the heck with sales.

I just did a search for my items and it only took about 20 clicks http://www.buildaforum.com/inkforums/img/smilies/eek.gif

Just searched some items on my other account and got about 6 different results..one showing my items http://www.buildaforum.com/inkforums/img/smilies/mad.gif
Good thing I have had that account for years and have a loyal customer base, otherwise I would be
standing out on the corner with a tin cup...I am still holding my breath!

I just did a generic search and my items came up just fine - over half the other items listed did not have a gallery photo - could someone be more detailed on the new problem?

seaneen,
Did you click on the link provided above by twisttolife? That's what I get when I look up my items.

I clicked the link and that's what I usually see when my search terms are too broad and bring back too many listings.
Of course they should allow people to opt out of this search results view for those that prefer to just see it all in list form...

OK I just looked at the link. If one goes way down to the right side there is "related searches" and work gloves is one of the catagories. I then get 486 actual auctions including near the top nitrile.
Here's what I got when I put "nitrile gloves" inthe ordinary search box at the top of My Ebay page:
http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle= nitrile+gloves&category0= (http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=nitrile+gl oves&category0=)
107 auctions for nitrile gloves.
I got exactly the same result when I put "nitrile gloves" in the ordinary (not advanced0 search box on the eBay Home Page - 107 auctions

Clicking the "more" at the top left under Sporting goods in the windowed breakdown of twistolife's link WOULD only give one sporting goods as that is waht the "more" is referring to.
Maybe I am not one of the lucky ones to be re-routed to this search result...??
BTW - somewhere I chose to see all searches in "list" form. Maybe that is why I get only lists...?

Why am I working so hard on trying to resize pictures if ebay's new search program sucks???....
Well, I'll just go take more pictures. At least I'll have them all ready when I do figure it out!!...http://www.buildaforum.com/inkforums/img/smilies/tongue.gif soon, I hope!!

I did, but I think we should be addressing the stockholders insteadhttp://www.buildaforum.com/inkforums/img/smilies/mad.gif

Yup! ePAY says they are testing different search formats and to "be patient". Sure,we can patiently watch their stock go down!

twistolife: You said "Wouldn't ya think they would want the FVF???" The answer is No, they don't. In early 2006 ebay released some statistics that I doubt we will ever see again. They stated that for 2005 they averaged 7,000 new listings every minute. The average number of auctions that ended with a sale were 7,000 per hour with an average sale price of $60.00. Do the math. Using today's most used minimum listing fee of 40 cents revenues would be $2,800 per minute. FVF on the average sale of $60.00 is $2.45. Income from listing fees of $168,000 per Hour versus FVF per HOUR of $17,150. They care only that enough listings sell to keep us following the carrot. If they thought for one second falling sales would not lead to fewer listings they would not care if nothing ever sold. Ebay really does not care, on an individual basis, if we ever sell anything, only that we keep listing and hoping and prayinghttp://www.buildaforum.com/inkforums/img/smilies/mad.gif

EbAy is rewarded by failing to provide bidders, since you have to pay to list again.
Then there are the fools who give Meg a bonus for failing to provide a buyer, by using a minimum.

Thanks mr magic for the stats! Shocked that eBay makes so much off of us each minute, but not shocked that eBay has a very defined money trail.
eBay needs some stiff competition!

Here is the canned response I got to the complaint I sent to eBay..Again, they didn't read!
"Thank you for writing eBay in regard to searching.
I am sorry that you aren't pleased with eBay's recent changes to our
search results. Enhanced search results was designed using input from
our members. The new design displays seller information in your search
results, allows you to quickly view pertinent information about each
item. You can also instantly add items to your Watch list.
Please be aware that this is a test of our new design. A small
percentage of randomly-selected buyers will see the new design when they
view all search and browse results pages, along with Sellers Other Items
pages. In a few weeks, selected users will also see the new
functionality and design in item lists within an eBay Store.
I hope as you become more familiar with our enhanced search results
you'll agree it makes eBay an even better place to buy and sell.
If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to reply to this
email and let us know.
Sincerely,
Jared B. K.

I thought my sales were off due to summer, but it might be the odd new search. I do opt out of it whenever they try and force it on me, mostly because I can't find a link to click on for completed aucions. Can anyone tell me where it is in the new search margin?
Ebay said I needed a javascript update and sent me a link. Hopefully that will bring up completed auctions in the new search.

What's needed is for ebaY to learn how to program so you don't NEED javaScHrIpT.
