Has anyone ever been hit with this?
PayPal wants 7 more steps of confirmation, including SSN number, wants to run a credit check, wants to charge me $2 to verify my card, wants me to provide sources and invoices with contact information for what I sell, and more!
Anyone else ever been subject to this?

Go to the www.paypal.com (http://www.paypal.com) and click on help then contact us. Verify with PayPal that they are indeed the ones asking for the information.
I wouldn't give out any information until I was 100% sure that it was from PayPal. They should have the PayPal phone #'s listed somewhere within the contact us area. Might take a little digging on the PayPal site, but you should be able to find it.
Disclaimer: This is id (cjturtle) is not my eBay id. Someone else on eBay already had this id. My eBay id is not even close to this one.

I can't see them needing your SSN for anything.
I got a call the other day, didn't catch the caller ID on it, but the automated message said it was PP calling to talk to me about some recent transactions on my account.
Unfortunately my daughter deleted the message before I got the number down, but I checked my account and there were no odd or unrecognized charges and I never received an email from them either.
I had to wonder if the spoofing has moved from email to phone as well... None of the Caller ID's said PayPal and I know when Ebay calls me it's a live person and says that it's Ebay calling on the Caller ID....

DO NOT EVER GIVE OUT THAT INFO!!! THIS IS A SCAM. YOU SHOULD FORWARD THE EMAIL TO SPOOF@PAYPAL.COM. When ever you are not sure of either eBay or Pay Pal emails, forward it to spoof@paypal.com or spoof@ebay.com. Pay Pal will never ask for that info and when they do ask for info, they will tell you to go to your account and do it. NEVER NEVER NEVER hit one of those links!!!

Yes 2 years ago. One of my employees was messing up with her assigned computers, her ebay/paypal account. She went NLARU'd and hit our corporate account.
The email must contain your name, and the account at this point it should be limited. But of course it is possible a scam to get your password/sign in info.

Now they want your SS# if they THINK they needed.

If you use the Debit or Credit Card too much they will call you to verify only. They also check ramdonly if your phone that you gave to them is still valid.

Laurie, It is true. I agree with you. It should start with that (replying to spoof..). But They do require that info when they limit an account.

NONE ASKS FOR YOUR FULL SOCIAL SECURITY #.
warning warning!!@
They will call if you have had alot of activity on your card just to verify purchases. Never give out your social security number, this has to be a scam and an obvious one.

When they limit a Paypal account hey may and they do ask for many information
SS#, State or Goverment ID, Invoices of merchandise. Proof of Delivery, Phone Bill, Bank Statement, CC Staments, and I dont remember what else. I did passed through this.
Usually is not an email, just when you log in to the paypal account of ebay.
And they do request via fax

Interesting... When they called, I hadn't been using my DC as often as I had in the past... But we did take a small road trip a few towns away to pick up some ferrets and I used it to buy some soda that was on sale at a gas station on the way home, lol. But it's not like I've never been in that area using my card and we took a trip to Savannah in the beginning of the summer and I used it quite a bit there and never heard from them.
But I supposed if you just apply the fact that "they are PayPal" it makes sense! http://www.buildaforum.com/inkforums/img/smilies/lol.gif

I fell for this a few years ago. When they asked my routing number, etc. I did not complete the questionaire, but ended up having to cancel the credit card info I game them. Paypal assured me this was a scam, so beware. gator
